Ranger District: Gunflint
Project Description: Sharpen your carpentry skills with this boardwalk project in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness! Volunteers will work together to construct a boardwalk on the portage from Misquah Lake to Little Trout Lake. This area is great for spotting a moose or catching a fish in your spare time.
Volunteers will meet at the Gunflint Ranger Station for an orientation and to divide up gear before carpooling up the Gunflint Trail to the entry point. The group will paddle and portage approximately 4 hours from Poplar Lake to Misquah Lake and set up a base camp. Each day volunteers will travel from camp to the portage to complete boardwalk construction.
